July 29th, 2011. Doors open @ 6:30. Tickets are $5.

The Double Door of Chicago Illinois will play host to a  solo acoustical performance by Jared Blake. Jared competed on Country Superstar Blake Shelton’s team on NBC’s The Voice this season making the top 16, being cut just prior to making the top 8 and going on tour. This will be a rare chance for the fans to see Jared Blake live in an intimate setting, interacting with him, and be able to see a performance like no other! Jared will be playing the accoustic guitar given to him by Blake Shelton, and continuing with the tradition on this “For the Fans” tour, Jared will be asking the fans to sign this legendary guitar, “because you guys mean the world to me”. Jared says, “The most amazing thing that this show has given me, was you guys [the fans]…. to get to have you guys that actually want to hear what I have to say and hear the songs that I wrote is freakin’ amazing, you can’t put any words on it.”  This show in Chicago will be the last in a series of fan based shows that Jared has been doing since the last episode of The Voice. After a small rest, Jared will be picking up the band in Nashville, and heading out to play for his fans in a full concert show. Be looking for news of Jared’s arrival in your town.  Jared has extended a personal invitation to the local Chicago media to contact his management team for free tickets, only a limited number of them are available.  Contact jennifer@trustmarketingagency.com  for further details.

For those of you who are not yet acquainted with the word “Ambigram” it’s time for you to get “schooled.”

An  ambigram is a design that may be read as the same word or phrase (or sometimes two different words or phrases) when oriented in two different ways, usually when reflected in a vertical axis or when rotated through 180 degrees.

If you haven’t already heard of Red Chapter Clothing chances are you’ve seen it. With stars like Jamie Foxx, Chris Jaricho (Dancing with the Stars) and NBC’s The Voice’s, Jared Blake rocking the Red and Google labeling them as the “next big thing,” Red Chapter Clothing is impossible to miss.  Red Chapter, a name created from a play on words, is the world’s first and only premium line of clothing and accessories based entirely on ambigram artwork. With 450 stores worldwide so far, this cutting edge company prides itself not only on its California-made products but the motto: “Handcrafted with love and rock n roll.”  I recently caught up with one of the owners and front man for Paperback Hero, Bryan Hopkins. He walked me through the creation of Red Chapter and how he balances his life being a rock n roll God and designing, manufacturing and marketing a clothing line made just for them.

How did you meet Mark and Ryan Palmer and when did you decide that you wanted to start Red Chapter Clothing?

“I met Mark and Ryan three years ago.  I was on tour with Alice Cooper and I was making my own clothes.  My roommate at the time, Toryn Green, the lead singer of Fuel, had discovered Mark’s artwork on a tattoo site online.  He got one of Mark’s designs tattooed on him during the finale of LA Ink season one.  I ended up meeting Mark at a Fuel show and two days later he designed a tattoo for me.  We became really good friends and three months later we started Red Chapter.  In the beginning Mark did the artwork, Ryan handled the manufacturing and I was in charge of marketing and sales but we all learned how and were doing everything.  We’ve just recently gone back to the original prototype.”

Who came up with the name “Red Chapter” and what does it mean?  When I think of the name, I think of red carpets and lights; a period in your life you’ll want to remember.

“Mark came up with the name.  The words Red Chapter make the perfect ambigram.  The name is really just a play on words like Angel/Devil, Saint/Sinner, What Doesn’t Kill Me Makes Me Stronger. Red chapter could reference a bible or a biker gang; whatever you want.”

When and how did Mark start designing Ambigrams?

“Mark was in church one Sunday and he wrote the word PRAY on a piece of paper.  Then he wrote it upside down and showed his brother Ryan.  Ryan asked him do his name and shortly after started giving him assignments.  The more he did it the better he got at it. They ended up starting WOW Tattoo’s.  That was seven years ago.  Now Mark is Mark the most sought-after ambigram artist in the world.  He’s created about 20,000 ambigrams for tattoo collectors all over the world.”

How do you balance designing and marketing your clothing company when you’re a full time rock star?

“It’s sleepless here. There is never a day off and we’re always trying to stay ahead of the game.  A typical day is a little bit of rock n roll, a little bit of clothing and about one hour of sleep.  I write at night, do shows during the week and yet I still have to do my part with the clothing line.  Owning Red Chapter has opened a lot of doors and sometimes it even helps me book shows. Ryan and Mark have WOW Inc in addition to Red Chapter so we all stay really busy. We’re adding three new stores a day so things are about to get even crazier.”

I heard you recently hooked up with Jared Blake, one of the contestants on NBC’s The Voice.  Can you tell me a little bit about how you got him to rock one of your designs on national television?

“I met Jared during one of the tapings of NBC’s The Voice. When we met he said he loved my shirt.  It was a sample and I didn’t have anymore so I took it off and gave it to him.

So, you literally gave him the shirt off your back?

Yes and that’s the exact shirt he ended up wearing on the show. For Mark and I, the most enjoyable thing about owning Red Chapter was watching Jared on national TV wearing our shirt.   That moment solidified everything because we are truly a rock n roll clothing line!”

If you could describe your company in two words what would they be and why?

“Creative and hardworking.  When we first started out we were paying people to try and get it right and they weren’t getting it right.  So, we went out and bought the equipment, started in a garage and taught ourselves how to do it.  In the beginning we could only make 30 shirts in 2 weeks and to have it be at this point now, it’s amazing. It’s how I make my living.  This is a very creative company.  All three of us sit around and talk about concepts of artwork and 2 words that we would want to wear on shirts.  We stick to what we love and if we wouldn’t want to wear it then we don’t make it.  We designed some shirts trying to trend and we found ourselves struggling so we said lets go back to our roots.  Let’s make stuff that we love and those have become are best sellers.”

I know that you guys are getting a bunch of hype from the general public and celebrities alike.  Are you planning on adding to your collection anytime soon?

“We actually just created the fall line and spring line of 2012.  Next spring we’ll have denim.  We’re always putting out new things.  I’m really excited about LUCK/ FATE and AMERICAN/FREEDOM Jared Blake signature shirtsRock n roll and fashion are just two things you can’t get away from.”

Article by Krysta Youngs for Trust Marketing Agency trustmarketingagency.com

Trust Marketing Agency cheers on long-time client, Jared Blake.  Watch NBC Tuesday nights 8/9pm central to join us.

“Imagine you didn’t pick your job; it picked you!”

Every once in a while we like to take the time out to share with our audience some special things going on behind the desks at our office.  Jared Blake, my friends, is that special thing.  Our client auditioned for a new series on the peacock network that proposed to rival “American Idol” and blow any other singing competition out of the water.  The concept seems riveting, and I invite you to take the challenge and watch!  The shows’ sneak peaks include coaches CeeLo Green, Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton.  The combination of singing competition and celebrity team competition certainly beats the current Idol format.  It’s also not about the sob stories or making fun of auditioning contestants.  They’ve brought only the best talent out for the first rounds, rightfully named, “the blind auditions”.  Read more from NBC’s The Voice at www.nbc.com/voice or join them on Facebook and Twitter.

The first day I ever spoke to Jared Blake about helping build his brand and getting him back on the road, I knew that it was going to be an exciting road for sure.  To this date, Jared is one of the most hard-working and humble men I have ever met.  He is so balanced that you would never know his tumultuous past, unless you ask.  He will open up in a heartbeat and share how he built himself back into the man he always wanted to be.  His passion carries over into everything he does.  Jared continues to share his life with others that he can help on a daily basis.

It’s hard sometimes to imagine that you don’t pick your job; it picks you.  Jared Blake couldn’t quit music if it was killing him.  Music makes up every bone in his body and pours out every inch of him when he’s on stage.  It was an obvious choice to continue working with him through the ups and downs.  We headed into 2011 with Jared after a year of touring and developing his fan connections, focusing on writing a new catalog of songs, and the official announcement of his website launching in May 2011.  Jared Blake began a new project for a record, and made new connections after his contract at Sony/ATV ended.  One challenge was staring us right in the eye the whole time.  How are we going to get Jared’s face and voice in the houses of fans?  The publicity campaign began with television being the focus.  After just a few small things were booked, the big ones started rolling in.  Finally, the chance of a lifetime is here.  Jared is auditioning for one of NBC’s largest shows to ever launch.

I look forward to hearing the stories as he is exposed to America on NBC’s “The Voice” premiering this Tuesday, April 26th at 8/9pm central.

I just thought that I would mention how much we love working within the Nashville community.  Whether it be music events, campaign development, or even a new brochure design, it is always a pleasure.

So, to that I say, “who needs worker bees with you have a team of ants.”  Did you know that ants can lift 10-50 times their weight?  I am pretty sure that makes them better…as long as you work on land.

Hooray for their amazing abilities in internet development. They have brought businesses the capability to niche market like no other through PPC (pay-per-click) campaigns.

Just last month, Google announced a new preview tool that changes the world for those using AdWords. It helps clients and developers through accessing an easy-to-navigate UI (user interface) that will tell you why and help you understand whether you need to raise your bids, update your location targeting, increase your daily budget or optimize your account.

In addition, for those who may be thinking about incorporating a mobile ad campaign, this tool definitely gives you beneficial insight into not only how your ads will look, but more importantly, a way and means by which you can manage a mobile campaign effectively.

We launched our QR code advertising in December for our client, Artisticrete.  There has been such an enormous response from our innovative ad, the magazine HomeMag is launching its own QR program for its advertisers to signup for.  We are proud to announce that Artisticrete beat the competition and will not have to pay for this service, yet gets all the recognition for being first.  Thank you Artisticrete, for being a wonderful client and friend of Trust Marketing Agency!

If you are interested in getting a QR code for your company, or learning more about them, please call and let us help push you ahead of your competition.

What’s a QR code?  “QR” stands for quick response.  It’s an easy way for app phone users to reach you via email, website, maps, contact information, and more.  Here’s what Artisticrete’s looks like:

Since we’re busy working on projects for actual clients, we’ve put our own website and promotion on the back burner for quite some time. NO MORE! We’re pulling together project summaries, photos, and more to showcase a sampling of our capabilities. One of the things that sped up this process immensely was selecting a clean, easy to navigate and easy to update WordPress theme so that we could focus on the actual content of our site, rather than slaving over the actual design for now. Thanks to Michael Whalen @ WhaleSalad for creating the “Tasty” theme you’re viewing right now! Gotta give props to the fellow designers. ;) Check back for new content soon!

So we decided to do it. Give it another shot. Make something happen. That’s right. Jennifer and Dorothy have been set loose on the world as a team once again – and we’re about to make some noise. Yeah, it looks pretty quiet around here right now – just don’t say we didn’t warn you when your ears are ringing later. See you soon.
